Purple Jellydisc Ascocoryne Fruit body 0.1–1.5cm across, reddish purple, sessile or on a short stalk, inverted cone-shaped with flattened disc or concave tending to cup-shaped, often irregularly lobed at the margin. Flesh gelatinous. Asci 160 x 10µ. Spores ellipsoid, containing two oil drops, 10–19 x 3–5µ. Habitat gregarious on dead wood, especially beech. Season late summer to early winter. Common. Not edible. Found In Europe and north America.
